The Inimitable HARTY Awards

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the 2014 Annual HARTY Awards, where the NHL's finest are honored with prestigious accolades that every young child with a hockey stick in his hands has dreamed of winning since two years ago.
Now, this is the internet's premier red carpet awards event, and while there is no invitation necessary to attend, this is still a black tie event. The Hart of Hockey would appreciate it if you dressed appropriately for such an occasion, and show some respect to the players we all tore apart on Twitter the past season and look your finest. If you have to alter your attire for the event, now's your chance.

The Incomparable HARTY Awards

The players and owners of the NHL fought an ugly battle during the most recent lockout. There were times when it seemed neither side would budge an inch on certain issues. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman worked to ensure the owners would make all the money in world, while Donald Fehr headed up the NHLPA working to ensure as many player rights (and cash) as possible. In the end, compromises were made to salvage what remained of a 2012-13 season, but they came at a price...
As a result of the lockout, the players lost their trip to Las Vegas for the NHL Awards Show. Instead the NHL is presenting their annual awards on the Internet and on NHL Network between Games 1 and 2 of the Stanley Cup Final. Respected veterans like Jean-Sebastian Giguere understand how much players value their Vegas vacation, but this year, the league couldn't give it to them. What a disgrace.
That's why this year, The Hart of Hockey will try to make it up to the athletes of the NHL with this year's HARTY Awards. I would like to extend a formal invitation to all of the winners of the 2013 HARTYs to come to lovely Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and meet at the Primanti Brothers location on Route 60 to receive your award in person! Of course, you'll have to pay for your plane ticket... and hotel... and anything else you decide to do for entertainment. But The Hart of Hockey would be more than happy to cover the expense of Primanti's sandwich upon the presentation of your award!
With that generous offer on the table, this year's winners are...

First Annual HARTY Awards

The Stanley Cup has been awarded to the Los Angeles Kings, but the NHL isn't done handing out hardware just yet. The 2012 NHL Awards Show in Las Vegas is upon us, where the league's best hope to receive an individual awards to demonstrate their great seasons. Every player in attendance would exchange their scoring title or MVP to be in the Kings' position with Lord Stanley hoisted over his head in a heartbeat, but it still remains a fun event for all. Even though we didn't get a fancy opera hall, pretty girls to present trophies, or Nickelback to perform the whole time (you can thank us for that last one,) The Hart of Hockey is proud to present its first annual HARTY Awards.
What is a HARTY you ask? It's a cheesy, generic name for what we're handing out to some of the NHL's best, awards that are probably more prized than some NHL award. HARTYs are based on the NHL's most prestigious awards, but then we've thrown in a few extra categories as well. The HARTYs are not supposed to reflect any kind of prediction for who will win in Vegas; in fact, you'll even notice some of our nominees are different than those of the NHL. These are just for fun, but rest assured, we will be adding these heralded accomplishments to the winners' Wikipedia pages. Well, even as the host I'm getting the "wrap it up" signal, so let's go on with the HARTY Awards!
